The two groups
Who is in each group
Children are grouped by age, with two adults in each group.

Younger group
Children who turn 3 by the start of the school year. Walks are shorter, the yurt is close, and the day leaves room for a rest and for play that has no end point.
A short walk to the log circle
Time to watch, dig and carry
Help with layers, every morning

Older group
Children in the final year before kindergarten. Walks go farther, projects run across several mornings, and children take on small jobs: carrying the first aid pack, leading the line, counting the group.
Longer walks to the creek and the ridge
Projects that last a week
Jobs that count on the trail
See both groups on a morning walk
A tour is a walk with the group, about an hour. Dress for the weather.
